Bring on Fall:

No matter what the temperatures may be, September is here.
At Mill Hill Meadow, that means just one thing.
Bring on the Fall decorating, Fall baking, and Fall activities.
If we wait for cooler temperatures, we will lose a lot of our Fall season... for it's still been quite warm here.
No matter, we've been baking, and decorating, and playing the Fall playlist.
 Organize and Homemaking:
Now is the time to organize and stock up for the coming winter months.
Make the beds with warmer linens.
Shampoo those carpets, and get any last painting jobs finished up.

Fall maintenance time is here too. Time to get that home buttoned up.

Make a scarecrow:

Garden Charlie needs a make-over this Fall.  Here he is, watching over the gardens at:
 Cottage On Main {click to go to my Cottage On Main blog}

He will need a new shirt, some new blush, and for certain, he will need a new hat this Fall.

Pumpkin Hunting:
Get out and find that perfect pumpkin, or if you are lucky enough to have a pumpkin patch, you have a choice of perfect pumpkins!
Last year, we had a wonderful pumpkin patch, and just had to walk out to the garden and pick a few pumpkins to decorate with.
This year, so far, not one pumpkin in sight! Not at the grocery store, or at the Farmers markets!
The Great Pumpkin Hunt continues this week!

Bake it:  Easy Pumpkin Chocolate chip cookies :

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15 ounce) can solid pack pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 (18 ounce) box spice cake mix
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips or 1 (12 ounce) package milk chocolate chips

Directions:

  1.
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together pumpkin and spice cake until well blended. Add chocolate chips to mix. Drop cookies on greased baking sheet. Bake for 15-18 minutes.
It seems almost too easy, but this is a good recipe, that is quick and easy, and will make your home smell delicious.  These cookies freeze well too.
If you've not tried them ever, or in a long while, give them a try!

  4. Hi Kerin, love your post...as always. Just love the fall decor too. I can't believe it is September already.

I see on my temp thingy on my blog it is 84 or something scary like that in Logan. Must be hotter down south by you.

Here in western Washington state we are cooling in the lower 70s upper 60s. YAYYYY for that. I like cooler better.

Hope you find some perfect pumpkins.

    Take care, Janet W

  6. You had me at the pumpkin cookies. They wouldn't last long in my house. I'm sorting clothes. A lot of my summer clothes barely made it, and it's time to sort out the worn ones. I mean worn! Also, looking at warmer things and want to be ready when the season turns. Wishes for a great week.

  13. You are right! I haven't seen a single pumpkin and they are usually piled up by now in front of the grocery stores. Hmm. Wonder what is up with that. Happy Fall beginnings!

  14. Yes! Bring it on! Fall, that is. We had rain last night and a cold front moved in so at least it's not in the 90's but it could still be cooler to me! LOL. I was able to get 2 pumpkins at the Farmer's Market...they'll be in a store near you soon! Thank you for the maintenance list...I was able to pin it to my "fall" board.

  17. Hi Kerin!

Sounds like you are all ready for Fall!!! I love your scarecrow - just adorable!! I have had so many Magpies this year, a scarecrow sounds like just the ticket to keep them away . . . maybe, they are pretty relentless!

I love anything made with pumpkin, and can't wait to make a batch of pumpkin cookies - your recipe sounds super easy!

    Hugs,
    Barb
