Candy Bar Pie.. Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
Sharing a family favorite recipe today.
It's tradition to make Candy Bar or Hershey Bar Pie for Thanksgiving and Christmas .

Candy Bar Pie

16 Lg. marshmallows
1/2 C. milk
Melt marshmallows in milk over medium-low heat.

Add 1 1/2 giant candy bars chopped up....IE: Hershey's or Symphony candy bar.
Stir until chocolate is melted and mixture is creamy.

Cool to room temperature.

Fold in 1 to 1 1/2 cups whipped cream-- unsweetened {use the real stuff}.

Pour into prepared pie shell. We like the Oreo pie shells or graham cracker pie shells.
{My mom used to bake traditional pie shells and make candy bar pies that way.}

Chill pie for several hours.

Delicious!!

Attitude of gratitude:
~So grateful for this wonderful time of year.  A time to reflect on the many, many blessings that we are blessed with.
~ For family,  for home, for health, for friends, for healthy food, for warm and cozy shelter.
~For the gospel in our lives, for eternal families, for good books.
~For our sweet little dog, Rowdy... he keeps me company.
~For good music, that fills our home with cheer.

~For great blog friends! You cheer me and leave such sweet and kind comments.  Luv you all!

Tuesday

Don't blink.

 St. George temple.
We had a "Girls Weekend" in St. George.
It was so much fun, and we enjoyed attending the "Time Out For Women" event. {click on the link to see the site "http://www.tofw.com/ }
The temple grounds are always so beautifully manicured, and the gardens are so well tended.  There were old fashioned roses, still in bloom.
In one of the main garden beds, there was ornamental cabbage growing, and little pansies.
The garden beds had been planted for Fall.
I'd love to plant this variety of ornamental cabbage next year.
I must remember.
My sweet husband had a very small "honey-do list", while we were out of town.
One of his projects to get done, was to get the car inspected, and renew the license.  He took the car to the auto shop for the inspection, and as the shop employee was backing our car out of the bay, he ran into a parked truck, and he wrecked our car.
Yes.  The auto shop wrecked our car.
It wrecked the bumper, and broke out the tail-light lens,  also scratching the paint on the trunk.

It is all fixed now, and the shop was really good about fixing it quickly, and they were very apologetic.  Still.... not cool.
Lastly, this is such a sweet simple old-fashioned ironing board.
It is in the house that our youngest son is in the process of buying.
He will be a home-owner!
How awesome for him!
He's young, just 22... and he's not married... but, he wants to invest in his future and have his own home.
The house is just AWESOME!
Even though it needs a lot of work, he's well experienced at renovating old homes {thanks to his Mom and Dad, always buying old houses } and he's looking forward to getting the house renovated.
Crossing my fingers that all continues to go well, and that the appraisal comes in where he needs it to.... etc... etc... etc...

At this time of year,  there is so much going on.  I'm afraid to blink.

Attitude of gratitude:
~So grateful for safety.  Traveling up and down the freeway so much during this time of year, and I'm always so grateful for the safe travels that our Heavenly Father blesses us with.
~Grateful for warm, healthy food.  I've been using the Dutch oven, and slow cooker a lot on these cold Fall days. I feel so blessed with the simple things that we are blessed with.  Food, shelter... clothing...etc...

Monday

Cozy Fall

Fall is such a cozy time of year.
Warm sweaters, hot chocolate heaping with marshmallows, cozy blankets and a good book.
Each morning, I get a fire going in the wood-burning stove.
Nothing warms the house up faster than the hot heat of a wood fire.  Love it.

I spent the morning reflecting on my blessings, and writing in my journal.
I have so many blessings...... so many things to be thankful for.

Some of my favorite things about this time of year are :
~Snuggling up on the couch with a good book.  I actually finished a book last week, and have started a new book.  Being indoors when it's cold and blustery, I find myself with time to read again... so nice.
~Candles.. I love the flickering light, and of course the yummy scent of candle.  I have 3 candles burning this morning: Mulberry, Candy Corn,  and Spiced Wassail.... all from Salt City candles.
~Hot Chocolate spiced with cinnamon.  Yummy!
~Leaves blowing around in the wind.  Like snow, swirling around the fence-posts and trees.
~Taking pictures. Fall is and always will be my favorite time of year, and I love to drive around and take pictures. There is always something beautiful to see.
~Board games. We love to set up Scrabble after dinner to play, or maybe a game or two of UNO.  Back in the day, I loved to play Clue, or Monopoly.... I run out of patience for those two games anymore **grin*.
~Naps. I'm not a person that usually naps.   In the Fall, it's nice to curl up and have a nice long nap.
~Pies.  Pies taste good all year long, but they taste especially delicious in the Fall.

So many things to be thankful for.
So many things to love about Fall.

I'm loving Fall, but dreading Winter.
Is there a way to enjoy Winter???

Attitude of gratitude:
~I'm so blessed and lucky to have good friends.
Wise women to give me advice, and laugh with.
~I'm blessed to have my health. Even though I feel myself getting older, and it's slowing my down a bit, I still feel like I can accomplish so much.
