Warm sweaters, hot chocolate heaping with marshmallows, cozy blankets and a good book.
Each morning, I get a fire going in the wood-burning stove.
Nothing warms the house up faster than the hot heat of a wood fire. Love it.
I spent the morning reflecting on my blessings, and writing in my journal.
I have so many blessings...... so many things to be thankful for.
Some of my favorite things about this time of year are :
~Snuggling up on the couch with a good book. I actually finished a book last week, and have started a new book. Being indoors when it's cold and blustery, I find myself with time to read again... so nice.
~Candles.. I love the flickering light, and of course the yummy scent of candle. I have 3 candles burning this morning: Mulberry, Candy Corn, and Spiced Wassail.... all from Salt City candles.
~Hot Chocolate spiced with cinnamon. Yummy!
~Leaves blowing around in the wind. Like snow, swirling around the fence-posts and trees.
~Taking pictures. Fall is and always will be my favorite time of year, and I love to drive around and take pictures. There is always something beautiful to see.
~Board games. We love to set up Scrabble after dinner to play, or maybe a game or two of UNO. Back in the day, I loved to play Clue, or Monopoly.... I run out of patience for those two games anymore **grin*.
~Naps. I'm not a person that usually naps. In the Fall, it's nice to curl up and have a nice long nap.
~Pies. Pies taste good all year long, but they taste especially delicious in the Fall.
So many things to be thankful for.
So many things to love about Fall.
I'm loving Fall, but dreading Winter.
Is there a way to enjoy Winter???
Attitude of gratitude:
~I'm so blessed and lucky to have good friends.
Wise women to give me advice, and laugh with.
~I'm blessed to have my health. Even though I feel myself getting older, and it's slowing my down a bit, I still feel like I can accomplish so much.
Love your list Kerin. I haven't had my first slice of pie or mug of hot chocolate yet but now you have me needing both soon!
ReplyDeleteWell I for one love your list. I love all of those things too. I think that it is so nice to have a fire and a good book.
ReplyDeleteI think that is what I like about November the best, the feeling of gratitude.
Have a lovely week.
I have never put it into words, but I too love watching the leaves scatter and blow in the wind. Love it. I missed out on last fall because I was so busy mourning the loss of it and wishing the winter away! lol. I have been better this year, so much better. I have enjoyed the fall as well. And, you are so right, there is nothing like a fire to warm the place up! Its REAL heat! (as opposed to fake heat lol)
ReplyDeleteI love your list- pie is sounding really good!
ReplyDeleteI quite agree with your favourite things I love all of them also. Its nice to read a good book and just chill out. What do you like to read?
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
Sarah x
I like to read a lot of different types of books.
DeleteI just finished a book that I downloaded on my Kindle. It was a romance-mystery... it was a great book!
Hi Kerin! So good to visit you again! I love, love, love fall and all the things you've listed would be on my my list, too. Except I've never put cinnamon in my hot chocolate before. I'll have to try that! I can't really think of a thing that's good about winter except for Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Great list of things to love about fall! I especially love taking pictures and snuggling up with a good book. Our fall colors weren't as pretty this year so I didn't go out to take many pictures.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
I love your description of Fall. I feel the same way. And then there is Winter - it's only good if you can sit and look at it through a window. :)
ReplyDeleteI like doing all the things you said but I also like being outside early in the morning walking, even on these cold days, and yes even in the winter. : )
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Kerin. Love the whirling leaves and the beautiful colors, but winter is not my favorite time of year. Makes me sad sometimes. Too dreary. Except for the first snow then I will want spring.Happy Monday..Judy
ReplyDeleteI love the Fall season as well!! I haven't read any books in a while though I do love reading. Too many projects going on I guess :)
ReplyDeleteThe only way to enjoy Winter is to hibernate!! I love the snow when it falls in big, wet snowflakes but there better be a nice warm crackling fire to keep me warm along with a comfortable afghan and a very well stocked pantry so that I don't have to get out in it. I think I should have been a bear!! LOL
I will always love and appreciate your attitude of gratitude . . . it models and mentors . . .
ReplyDeleteHi Kerin, good to see you back blogging. I love all your fall fun things to do, most can also be done in winter, I feel the same way. I dread December, even though it,s Christmas, January, February and most of March. xo
ReplyDeleteWonderful list! I had my hot chocolate this morning, I'll be curling up with the cats shortly for a nap and later on it's a walk through crunchy colorful leaves. Ah Fall!
ReplyDeleteKerin,
ReplyDeleteWell I like all of those things, so if you lived close by we could enjoy them together. Well you know sometimes. I just ordered several new books today. Its so pretty out, the whole lawn is like yellow and red, almost hate to have to rake it. Pretty soon the snow will be here and then things get really cozy inside. I got new boots today, just to be ready.

I remember how cozy Fall was when living in PA some years ago. Loved the crispy cool days, wonderful autumn colors and falling leaves.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your list. Lots of great stuff there,
ReplyDeleteI think alot of the items on your list can be transfered
to "Winter fun." The weater may prolong some
of it but what can you do?
I think I would add playing in the snow as fun thing to do.
THEN come in and do some snuggling under a cozy
blanket!
M :)
Beautiful post. I love Fall too. I try to drink it up because I know winter lasts a long time around here.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the wood heat. Gets right down to your bones.
Morning Kerin, Everything you have described is truly "enjoying the simple pleasures of life"! I'm right there with ya, girl...except I don't read many books...(a few) but more so my Bible and magazines! Fall/Autumn is my favorite time of year too but I know most people don't care for Winter but I do enjoy it somewhat (no ice please) Just some SNOW! I feel like a bear in the winter..it can be fun to snuggle and hibernate......Blessings~~~so glad you're back...love reading your blog! Roxie
ReplyDeleteLove your Fall blocks. They are so cute. I love Fall, but not ready for the long months of winter.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, there isn't a heat better than wood heat. Warms you to your bones.
I like the coziness of fall too. Your list of delights reminded me of coming inside the house after being outside on a chilly day and smelling my mother's hot apple pie.
ReplyDeleteAs for winter, yes there are ways to enjoy it. Your list still applies, as well as walking in the woods after a fresh snowfall or watching the bright red cardinals against a white background. Some winter days are glorious with the sun shining and a brilliant blue sky. OK, I'm done trying to convince you!
-Karen
Fall is such a wonderful time for cozying in, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm so going to miss my wood stove this year!
Happy Fall, Kerin!
I'm there with ya sista! Fall is my favorite followed by Winter....you can always dress warn enough and now that I don't HAVE to go out in it when the weather's bad I REALLY love it! I love cozy and there's nothing like Fall and Winter for making things cozy! I need to try your idea of cinnamon in hot cocoa. I don't think I've ever done that. Yes, fires, good books, naps, blankies, handwork, and pies and cookies! Oh my! Oh, and can't forget the candles! I need to order some as they won't melt in the mail now. I've been buying Walmarts but I'm needing some fresh fragrances. Yours sounded SO yummy! TTYL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful time Fall is!!! I love what you have been up to! We've been enjoying some nice Fallish and coldish weather too. Nothing like snuggling in pajamas with hot chocolate. And yes! I'd love to write letters. I haven't been writing for months now and really need to get back into it! :)
ReplyDeleteHello, sweet Kerin. There is something wonderfully cozy about fall.... that I wish would stay through the winter. ;) I love your gratitude list... being thankful shifts our whole attitudes. I'm grateful for your kind words of encouragement... you are such a blessing. Thank you so much. {{hugs]] and blessings to you and yours ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteAll of my favorite things about fall too. The best way to get through winter? Spend a couple of months in California! Ha. Mimi
ReplyDeleteI love fall. Aside from the shoveling, I love a fresh snowfall...as long as I am in front of a warm fire with my knitting in my hands.
ReplyDeleteFALL.....I LOVE IT! Such a cozy fire and such a great list! We are more alike than I realized!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and your family on this BEAUTIFUL FALL MORNING!
