~ Goat Shack ~

Goat Shack Soap trailer, Junction Utah .Goat Shack Soap
We stopped on a recent day trip to Panguitch Utah in Junction and bought some soap from this cottage company.
Not too far from where we live in the little town of Junction Utah.
I have a lot of family history with Junction Utah, as my G. G. Grandma Jennie and her siblings made the bricks for the Piute County courthouse.
This is an old picture of the courthouse, taken from the internet, as the current state of the courthouse is completely different and the courthouse is currently being used as a place to hose family reunions and the like.
I have one of the original bricks, made out of adobe, from the old homestead.
The old homestead is no longer standing. Now that homestead has been raised and in its place is an alfalfa field.
We took a spur-of-the-moment trip to Panguitch and through Junction and Kingston, etc..
and on the way back home, we stopped by this Goat Shack Soap Company trailer. Right on the main street of Junction Utah.

Inside the Goat Shack Soap trailer... lots of wonderful soaps.

We chose this variety of soap, and it smells wonderful.
We spoke with the soap maker for a few minutes, and she and her family are originally from Southern- Utah. Her husband is a welder ...thus the darling soap shack, and he was driving through south-central Utah on business and saw a 'For Sale' sign in front of an old adobe house. He stopped and the sign actually turned out to be for the land behind that house, but when they inquired about buying the house too, of course, the owners were happy to sell the house along with the land.

In Panguitch, we stopped by an antique store, drove up to Panguitch lake, and had lunch at a family- owned cafe called 'Big Fish'.

I have an old butter churn, just like this one.
The reason for our impromptu trip was that we had to say goodbye to our Sweet Rowdy. After 14 years of life, he was worn out.
He didn't suffer, thankfully, and our vet reassured us that he wasn't suffering, but that we had made the right decision in letting him go. He had developed some pretty serious health issues.
Rowdy got to see all of our family and he went very peacefully.

We miss him dearly, but we are so grateful that he was our sweet friend for 14 years.

We needed to get out of the house.
We needed a mini trip: and headed to Panguitch lake, etc.
That's how this mini trip came to be.

  3. So sorry for the loss of your Rowdy. It is so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet. We LOVE Panguitch. We have stayed there many times, and it is an awesome, fun little town. I know exactly where that antique shop is. What a nice little day trip. Now I am off to look at a map of Utah and see just where Junction, Utah is.

  4. Kerin, a sad reason for a trip but sounds like it was the right thing for you to do. It is so hard to lost a pet, they are just one of the family. I sometimes think our time is coming to a close with Kai but then he rallies for awhile. I hope we have the strength and sense to let him go when the time is right. What a nice place to go to take your mind off of heavier things..Happy Easter..xxoJudy
