~Saturday
Grabbed my water bottle and granola bar.
It was off to another fine day of yard sales, and garage sales.
Right off the bat, I found a great yard/garage sale close to home.
Lots of great items for sale, and all at thrifty prices.
Loot bought included : * candle sconces
 *white mini-lights
*Mr.. and Mrs. Pilgrim & *Mr.. and Mrs. Indian.... great addition to my Thanksgiving decoration.
*White glazed ceramic pumpkin with a curly-Q stem
*Wrought iron horizontal plant rack
*Two very large terra-cotta plant pots
*Two large bunches of pip berries
*Woodland Santa {about 14 inches tall}
*Various other home decorating item.
All, in all a very good haul!

Feeing Fall-ish?
Well, this gall was feeling quite Fall-ish, considering the low morning temperatures
we've been having lately.
Puts a girl in the mood to try out a new recipe or two.
This recipe is holiday recipe:

 Slow cooker candy.
1 package (16 ounce) dry roasted salted peanuts,
1 package (16 ounce) dry roasted unsalted peanuts,
1 package (12 ounce) semisweet chocolate morsels,
1 (4 ounce) German chocolate bars,
32 oz white almond bark,

Directions

  1. Put peanuts in bottom of crock pot; add other ingredients.
  2. Cook on low setting for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  3. Place rounded spoonful's onto wax paper and allow to cool.

Note to readers:
Double check the slow cooker, and make certain that it's set on the lowest temperature!
This correspondent had a brain burp, and set the cooker on 4 hours, instead of 10 hours cook time.
We saved the candy, but just!

  1. Sounds like my kind of yard sale goodies! Oh yes, I love Autumn, too. We are slightly cooler and we did have rain over the weekend. Your slow cooker candy has all my favorite ingredients. Thanks for the recipe.
I was sick yesterday with a stomach virus and did not even think to look at the moon last night! Enjoy your afternoon, Kerin.

  2. I love this new fun style for your blog! Glad you saved your candy. I will have to try this recipe out ~ on low of course ;-) I love yard sales, but around here (in Arizona) they are not that good ~ most everything that people are selling is too expensive or broken or simply worn out. Yard sales in the mid-west were much better. Enjoy your week. I am looking forward to Autumn's cooler temps.

  3. This is so much fun!!! I loved your article. It made me so happy to read about your finds and then your recipe and I am so glad you saved it. I am wondering, how does it taste? Is it good? Is it like candy?
I loved your quote at the end, that is so true. Something I need to remember all of the time.
I think this is just so fun. I hope you are having a nice day. I admit to feeling a bit envious of your all weather. :) It must just be wonderful.

  6. You did great with the sales!
Can you believe I don't like nuts? So I bet the candy is good, but not for me. :)

  7. Great "new" look! I love it. Especially the old mill graphic....certain pictures, scents and scenes just give you a good feeling and that one certainly does.
You lucky! Great finds at the sales...I've been looking for some mini lights too.
Thank you for the recipe...you didn't mean 10 hours did you? You said it went 4 instead of the 10 and you just saved it. It really is 1 1/2 to 2 hours, correct? Sounds yummy and a great gift idea.
I don't understand why my moon just looks normal to me when everyone else's is SUPER.......isn't it the same moon? LOL! It looks super in your photo but not out my window.
When the grands were here we watched the space station go over. I live in a great place for star gazing as there are no big cities nearby to cast their light. The moon will interfere with the meteor viewing but I will have a better chance tomorrow and getting up early is easier for me than staying up late! LOL!
I love your new look and feel and "newsy" style. You are so creative. Good to be back with my friends in blog land....I missed you!

  13. Hi Karin,
I would say you had a really good day at yard sales. We have to go when we can, the season is short. I hope to go to a few this coming weekend. I have been getting rid of a lot of stuff so maybe that means I can get new stuff. I think. Not sure. That recipe does sound good!

  16. Fabulous, Kerin! I love your new blog name...so glad to be back to blogging myself! Don't you love a good bargain, a treasure-hunt? We have a great Good Will in a little shopping center next to Walgreen's right at our main intersection in town...almost every outing requires driving by it, and of course, "driving right by" is a good enough excuse to stop in... and while I don't always find treasure, many times I do!
Yes, although it is still HIGH Summer, I can see things winding down daily, and these temps...possibly 58 tonight...unheard of!! Come on, Fall!
    Hugs,
    Anne
