Happy Spring to Ewe, and Yew, and You.

Happy Spring to Ewe.
Isn't she the cutest?!  Mama sheep found herself a darling Springtime bonnet.
The other day, my sweet husband and I went for a ride. Just to see some Spring time changes here in the country.
Of course, it's lambing season.
We happened upon the cutest flock of sheep, and such sweet baby lambs.
Lambs always mean Spring time is finally here.
New life.
Don't you just want to rub their little fuzzy heads?!
 English Yew shrubs.
The evil Yews.
I had no idea that they were so miserable to remove.
Spencer had so many growing along the front of his house, that you couldn't even see the house.
We tried to yank them out with a cable hooked to the hitch of the truck. Bad idea.
Never, ever, try to yank a Yew shrub out....unless it's a teeny baby Yew.
So, the chain saw came out and he whacked them down.
The stumps will be dug out and cut again with the chain saw.  Any remaining Yew shrub stump will be covered up with top soil, and we will plant over them!!
Spencer and my sweet husband also had to take down a huge dead tree that was in the front yard. The tree was so dead and hardened that it took them a long time to cut it up.
Just with those two landscaping clean-ups done, his yard and home look 100% better. It's amazing what a difference it's made.

 Also... the endless painting.
Each free day and what free hours we have, we paint.
Sanding, caulking, and painting primer.  The ceilings are 12 feet, and I cannot reach them, even with an extension pole. So, Spencer and my sweet husband are the ones that have to paint the ceilings and the top parts of the wall.
I am however... a most excellent trim, and baseboard painter!!
In the process of painting, Spencer has been getting his whole house re-wired.
It's just about done.  Then, the insulation will be done. There is a company that sprays in insulation, and they are going to do the house.  Also, the plumber will get started and re-plumb the entire house.
We are big DIY-ers, but there are some things that we hire out.

Wishing you all a very nice Spring.
Hoping for you that you are getting all of your Spring projects done.
If I don't post for a bit, you'll know I'm working my fingers to the bone.. painting, landscaping, caulking, loading debris in the truck, and hauling it to the landfill, hanging out at the hardware store.... etc.. etc... etc...

Attitude of gratitude:
~I have so much to be grateful for... but I am especially grateful for Spring this day.

It's good to see you've been keeping busy with your son's home. It's going to be well worth all the work eventually, but of course, you already know that!

  7. You certainly are true to the title of your blog site.
Always Fixin' Never Sittin' . . . And it is looking like the results are paying off. Very nice home your son will have when you are finished.
I am sure your son is grateful for mom and dad.

  10. The sheep and lambs are all so cute!
We had yews at our first house - what a pain they were to get out! Spencer's house is coming along and you are wonderful parents to help so much. :)

    1. I had no idea that Yews were so miserable to remove. I also learned that they can grow to 25 feet tall, and 12 feet wide.... crazy! I will never, ever plant Yews.

    1. Thanks much Alica...
Spencer is working on a super tight budget, but he allowed for some of the heavy duty renovation work to be done by the pros. He's been helping the electrician though, and that has saved him a great deal of money!! He worked out a deal to help pull wire, cut in boxes, etc... etc...

  13. Oh yes, that little lamb is the cutest thing!!!
Yes, those yews are really hard to remove.
Lots of work but so worth it when it's done. And so rewarding to do the work yourself.

  15. Good Morning and Happy Spring! That little lamb is adorable :)
The title of your blog certainly applies to this post, I got tired just watching you work, LOL.
Have a lovely weekend and don't work too hard. You know what they say, "All work and no play makes Kerin a dull girl". So, take a little break and add some fun to your weekend.
    Keep smiling.
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  16. Happy Spring to you dear friend! I'm a slug compared to all of you! My word, you have been busy and nothing easy either. I have busy days and then I "crash"...like today. I wish I had an old house to fix up rather than a carpeted ranch but then I need to be grateful I have a home that is well-built and all the "big" stuff is up to snuff. I love to see what you're doing as it motivates me to "keep on truckin". TTYL!

  18. Hi Kerin!

I love Spring, and I love new little lambs!! So adorable!

I know your pain when it comes to taking out shrubs.... :0( We had some big shrub type bushes in front of our house when we moved in, and getting them out was horrible! We will be putting in fence soon, yikes, I don't know which is worse!! We also need to paint, but I like that job!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  24. My folks used to raise sheep and the lambing season really is the most favorite time. I loved watching them follow one behind the other running up and down the snowpile by the barn, kicking up their heels in utter joy.
Spring brings projects, many projects as I see you have before you. Joy!
