Good Morning Sunshine

A fresh bouquet of chocolate mint.
I've been getting up before the sun, to take advantage of the somewhat cooler temperatures, and get the watering done.
This morning, I cut a huge bouquet of chocolate mint.
Smells wonderful, and I placed it on the kitchen island, to enjoy all day long.
I'm delighted that the sunflowers are beginning to blossom.
Just barely.
I have started additional sunflower seeds, so that I may plant them in succession.
I'd love to have an abundance of sunflowers well into the Fall.
 Lucky me.
Watching the sun rise over the mountains.
No better way to start the day.
 Flowers are all growing beautifully.
How cheerful.
 Garden goodness.
Little baby squash, and new squash blossoms.
The 'girls' get to play on the lawn, and get a bit of sunshine too.
They are beginning to feather out nicely.
Now... we just need to kick it into overdrive the next few weeks, and get the barn renovation finished so that they will have a home.

Yes... it's shaping up to be a great week.
Full of sunshine, and blessings.

Attitude of gratitude:
~I'm grateful for lemons. I buy them in bulk at Costco.
Nothing tastes better on a hot sunshiny day, than icy cold lemon water.
The perfect fruit!
~I'm grateful that I found some of my fabric stash.
I found an adorable soft yellow, and golden yellow, paisley print quilt at D.I.
Now that I've found my fabric, I want to make a couple of co-ordinating pillows for the quilt.
~I'm grateful that I found a couple of gallons of white paint at ReStore.
Perfect for re-painting the old wooden bench that sits on the front porch, and for re-painting the old wooden swing with.

  1. Your photos are beautiful. I love the sun rising over the old shed/barn. I have chocolate mint and I never thought of cutting some for a bouquet. I'm going to have to do that. I use it in my ice tea.
    Have a wonderful day!

  2. You are ambitious! What time does the sun get up over your way? I'm slow in the morning and then gather up speed! LOL!
Your barn looks great! And what a pretty picture of the sun coming up.
I've never heard of chocolate mint but I would go for that big time if I ever found some. I didn't go to HD or Lowes this year so nothing exotic in my yard just Walmart stuff. I have regular mint but I never thought of cutting and bringing inside....great idea and so pretty!
I've been in the mood to sew too! But my youngest son is coming down next week so I have other things to do before he gets here and sewing isn't one of them.
BTW...I just adore that wedding picture of your oldest son and his wife...that is the cutest wedding picture I've ever seen! Almost a year they'll be married...time flies!
Have a great 4th of July and I hope the fires have subsided around you. We're in high fire danger too and there are over 300 fires going on in the Ozarks. I worry over the 4th as some of these fires have already been started because of people letting off fireworks. A big swath of Mark Twain National Forest, grass fires and more. No rain predicted either. Still praying about it for everyone! Enjoy your day!

    1. Well...
It gets light enough by 4:45 to get outside and start watering.
By 6:30-7:00, the sun is up and beaming :)

Thank you for the compliment on the wedding picture.
I was the designated photographer for the wedding.
For decades, I have taken my kids pictures..etc.. I have always enjoyed photography, so it was a treat for me.

I have been praying that everyone is safe from wildfires this season.
And, praying and doing the rain dance for a gully-washer :)

  3. I never though of cutting my mint for a bouquet...what a nice idea! And that sunrise is beautiful!

  4. Looks good around your farm. Things are slowly coming along here. Some got stunted with all the rain we had a while back.
    Happy Fourth!!

  5. It is wonderful to see things green and growing in the hot dry summer. Beautiful pics!

  6. I love my herb garden, especially the spearmint and basil. My friend introduced me to chocolate mint and I LOVED IT...I need to get some.

I agree...this heat makes us early risers to tend to our plants and do the trimming.

I hope you check out that blog I told you about in my email...I think you two would really like one another...if you have not already met her.

  7. Kerin, It is BEAUTIFUL in the MORNING! I have been getting up earlier this year(more than in the past)because I love to water and sit on my porch. There is something about that time of day...it's so PEACEFUL! Your plants are so pretty, and I have never heard of chocolate mint! It sounds wonderful...need to check that out! It's the simple things in LIFE that make LIFE BEAUTIFUL! And you girl do a fine job at that! LOVE YOUR HOME! Glad your family is safe and will keep praying for others...from one sweetie to another~~~Roxie
